2010 Well H. Keddie Scholarship Winners

James Hughes (L) and John Aspray (R) are the 2010 winners of the Wells H. Keddie Scholarship.
Each student received a $2,000 scholarship based on their solid records as students
combined with social activism.
John Aspray is a junior studying Planning and Public Policy in the Bloustein School at Rutgers. He is a student activist involved in Tent State University and Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA), working to transform student government into an organization that defends student interests at Rutgers and in Trenton. Off campus, he is active in community organizing through Empower Our Neighborhoods (EON), which elected progressive candidates to the New Brunswick city council and launched a ballot question to switch from city-wide at-large elections to a ward-based system.
James Hughes is a junior pursuing a dual degree in Biomedical Engineering and Psychology. He is currently president of Rutgers Engineers without Borders, working on international projects such as a water sanitation system in Thailand as well as raising awareness at Rutgers through the first annual Walk for Water, highlighting the difficult trek women and children face daily in many countries to obtain drinking water by participants walking a 5K carrying two gallons of water. Also he worked as a Resident Assistant (RA) helping to improve student life on campus.
