We need feed back on pay and benefits. The Union is meeting with Management soon to address issues of late payments, mistakes in paycheck amounts and late enrollment and other problems with health benefits.  The Union contract was hard-fought and won so it's important to make sure the pay raise of $1,600 is fully paid to every Teaching Assistant and Graduate Assistant on each campus Newark, Camden, and New Brunswick.

Since September we have been working hard to track down and resolve all pay issues experienced by our graduate members.  Now we want you to double-check your pay against these numbers below for Academic Year (AY) and Calendar Year (CY) appointments.

Your regular by-weekly gross pay should be $1,316.55 for AY and $1,223.87 for CY. Since the first paycheck for those starting on September 1, 2019 was only for one week, the AY pay should have been $658.27. If your CY appointment started on September 1, then the one week figure for you is $616.93. Those who started a CY appointment on July 1 should have received regular by-weekly checks from the start.

Your pay stub should by now show the correct contractual amount: $28,569 for an AY appointment and $32,204 for a CY appointment.

So please check your pay back to September 1 (or July 1, if applicable) to make sure it is correct. The pay dates are 9/6/19 (one week of pay) and then biweekly on 9/20, 10/4, and 11/1.

The Union contract was hard-fought and won so it's important to make sure the pay raise of $1,600 is fully paid to every TA/GA on each campus - Newark, Camden, and New Brunswick.

Please confirm for us that your numbers are correct or let us know if they are not by Monday, November 11th. Either way, we want to hear from you about your pay before we meet with Management later this month.

If you don't yet have your health benefits or have any problems with them, please let us know and we will also raise these issues with Management.

If there are any other issues you think need to be raised with Management, let us know. Our previous message on pay appears further below. To confirm or contest the above you can reply to this email or write to aaup@rutgersaaup.org or call the Union at (732) 964-1000.

NOTE: AY is generally appointed from September 1 - June 30 and CY is generally July 1 - June 30. If your start date or end date is different let us know and we'll assist with checking your numbers. Likewise, if your salary is higher than the above numbers or your appointment is less that full time, we'll assist you in making sure your pay is correct - it should be pro-rated for those less than full time.
