PTL Faculty Chapter union membership has reached 70%

Submitted by Staff on Fri, 02/26/2016 - 16:55

The PTL Faculty Chapter is proud to announce that our membership strength has grown from a solid 54% full member ratio at the beginning of 2015 to an impressive 70% today. We thank everyone who is a full member.

We have set ourselves the goal of reaching an even higher number of full members over the next few months. In March, we are starting a membership organizing blitz.

Full union members, you are invited to team up with one of our organizers to reach out to our part-time colleagues to engage them in conversations geared toward encouraging them to join the union.

The PTL Faculty Chapter is not simply numbers. It is the people, like you and me, who get to know each other better and organize towards member-defined common goals. We are building the union one member at a time, and the whole adds up to much more than the sum of its parts. You’re invited to be part of that effort.

We are envisioning two-hour time slots each day, including the weekend from March 1 through March 11. Let us know if you can join a team. We look forward to hearing from you.

If you are not yet a member, now is the time to join. We are working hard to capitalize on this moment and hope to yield even more results.  What we need right now is your voice and vote.

Rutgers Part-Time Lecturers who are not yet full members are paying the nonmember representation fee (as required by NJ state labor law). If you wonder about your membership status, please ask!

We always look forward to having conversations with full members and not-yet members.
