The 2007-2011 AAUP-AFT contract with the Rutgers Administration includes a provision for a Faculty Development Fund that will be used to financing an increase in the number of full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty of no less than 100 additional faculty members net by the end of the contract.

The second payroll list in October 2007 is the baseline list of how many tenured and tenure-track faculty are employed at Rutgers University. This baseline number was 2033 tenured and tenure-track full-time faculty. The contract specifies that this number must grow by at least 100. This means that the list should contain a total of 2,133 tenured and tenure-track faculty by June 30, 2011 (counting written acceptances by new hires received as of that date and subtracting written retirements and resignations).

In 2010, with the addition of 18 new faculty on the tenure track, the third year of the Faculty Development Fund brings the net total increase at the to 65 as of October 15, 2010.

By 2009, the number grew by 47. The list grew to 2,080 in October 2009 for a net gain of 20 additional tenure-track faculty in the second year. That is a total of 47 newly hired faculty on the tenure track since the start of the current contract.

In 2008, the list of tenured and tenure track faculty grew to 2,060 for a net gain of 27 additional faculty in the first year of the Faculty Development Fund.

The annual lists below are drawn from payroll data supplied to the union by the Rutgers University administration.
